Brad Pitt's Swagger + Perishable Inspiration 💎

life lessons Aug 06, 2025

I saw the new F1 film recently and to say the least: it was epic and very inspiring.

Watching Brad Pitt embody a smooth racing driver for two and a half hours did something to me.

My mirror neurons had absorbed his confidence, mannerisms and demeanor.

Needless to say, his all-American outfits made him look extra cool.

The minute I hit the sidewalk, I felt cool.

All of a sudden, I had a different spring in my step.

I know I'm a short blonde girl and Pitt is a tall old man, but somehow my body still wanted to emulate his swagger.

I didn't feel as cool as him. But definitely cooler than usual.

This is the same feeling I used to get watching The Incredibles (2004) as a kid.

For a couple of hours after watching the film, my entire world transformed into a superhero's playground.

Every doorway became a potential dramatic entrance.

Every staircase, a chance to leap down with superhuman grace.

But here's a lesson I was reminded of shortly after.

"Inspiration is perishable."

I entered my building and caught myself in the massive lobby mirror while waiting for the elevator.

Reality hit me: I don't look half as cool as Brad Pitt.

The fourth wall of my cinematic dream world was broken.

What a bummer! 😂

But I wasn't about to let my newsletter ideas perish before I captured them.

So I did what any self-respecting creative does – I dumped my first thoughts in my notes while I dumped something else on the toilet...

Then I refined the thoughts on my laptop before I went to sleep.

The quote attributed to the investor Naval Ravikant continues:

"Inspiration is perishable. Act on it immediately."

When you recognize you're in that state, do something with it.

There's always less friction when you act in that sprint of inspiration.

It doesn't have to resemble a finished thought or product immediately, but it will be the beginning of one that you can continue later more easily.

When did you last have this embodied feeling of inspiration?

Bisous,

Elle
