Take a Walk (in the Rain) 🌧️

life lessons Aug 03, 2025

I'm walking home through light summer rain without an umbrella.

Can't remember the last time I saw this much rain in the beginning of July.

The warmth feels like summer, but the city looks like October.

Espresso Macchiato keeps playing in my head for no reason.

A delivery robot glides past me on the sidewalk. "Starship" printed on its side – makes me think of Star Trek.

The future is here.

The mother ship sending little vessels to deliver your groceries wherever, whenever.

So why am I carrying my own groceries right now?

The rain intensifies.

I'm not cold, but I pick up my pace anyway.

Every few seconds I remind myself how lovely it actually is to walk in summer rain.

That's the whole point of the film Midnight in Paris, isn't it?

The protagonist Gil finally finds someone who's not afraid to walk in the rain with him.

Umbrellas are nice and all, but isn't it great sometimes to surrender to a soft summer rain?

Bisous,

Elle

P.S. They say great ideas appear when walking without distractions. The ideas in this email and the next three came to me during a 15-minute walk home. Nothing extraordinary, but of course if you wanted to, you could write a whole book about a mere 15-minute walk!
